February 14 - With the exception of my heart full of ribbon goodness from Terri, Valentine's Day was a total bust this year. We're not even going to talk about it.
February 15 - Ooh, the yummy goodness that I wait for every year. Girl Scout cookie ice cream is only available for about a month out of the year, while the cookies sales are going on. Seriously, what's not to like about caramel ice cream, with ribbons of fudge and bits of Samoa/Caramel Delight cookies (pretty much the most awesome cookie ever invented)? I'm not a big ice cream fan, but there are three that I will actually eat, and this is one of them. (Because I know my mom will ask, the other two are BlueBell Southern Blackberry Cobbler and Graeter's Black Raspberry Fudge, which has spoon size chunks of honest-to-goodness fudge in it.)
February 16 - Members of Troop 731 saying the pledge at the most recent Sugar Land city council meeting. The city presented Troop 731 with a proclamation, honoring the Boy Scouts for 100 Years of Service. Brandon is the little guy in the white hat.
February 17 - Ash Wednesday. Since I had all of my groceries for meals with what was just in the pantry, fridge and freezer, I splurged a little and got some King Crab legs and a lobster tail for our Ash Wednesday meal.
February 18 - Rick and Brandon at ScoutFest, a celebration for Scoutings 100th birthday at Minute Maid park (the baseball stadium). They got to hear speeches by former scouts Jim Lovell (astronaut), the founder of the Bovay Scout Ranch, and Texas governor Rick Perry, plus Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchinson (who, of course, is running against the governor). Brandon was pretty tired and worn out and complained, but the next day told me how awesome it was.
February 19 - Brandon's third scouting event of the week: helping serve at the Sugar Land Exchange Club spaghetti dinner (the Exchange Club is who Troop 731 has their charter from). This year Brandon helped carry trays and pick up dishes afterward.
February 20 - Brandon's first KickStart tournament. As gold belts, they are only allowed to perform the Kata (the choreographed routine) as a team of 3 or individually. Brandon and his friends Devon and Syed. Finished 4th out of their group of 20 or so teams. (There were 3 such groups, representing almost 20 schools). They missed a bronze metal, and a trip to the city tournament, by .10 point. They were disappointed, but us mom's were proud of their effort and placing.
