Jacob finally got his wish and I set up the trees yesterday so that we could decorate them. And yes, I said trees. Actually, there are currently, ahem, 7 trees in the house. We have a 6.5 foot one for family and travel ornaments, a 4.5 foot "Jesus tree" (last year Brandon decided that since Christmas is Jesus' birthday, after all, he should get his own tree, with nothing but white lights and cross ornaments; we tried to convince him that nativity or angel ornaments would be more historically correct, but he insisted on crosses), a 3 foot tree that has ornaments made by my mom, and each boy has a 3 foot tree, decorated by them, with their own ornaments. Those are all in the living room. The boys' trees may end up in their bedroom (I haven't decided yet). Then in the dining room we have 2 18inch Grandparent trees, one covered in gingerbread ornaments for Grandma and Grandpa Lytle, and a snowman covered tree for Grandma and Grandpa Staigle. Now we're taking a gamble this year by not bolting the trees to the wall, so the countdown to the first tree toppling by Jacob is on. Not that bolting the tree to the wall actually keeps him from knocking the tree down, it just merely knocks it sideways so that it takes if 5 times as long to get up straight again. Last year it took me more than an hour to get back straight. So we'll see how many ornaments we lose this year.
