Up in Huntsville there is this huge statue of Sam Houston, a very important historical figure in Texas. Now Sam was a Tennessee senator, defeated Santa Ana (who led the Alamo campaign) at the Battle of San Jacinto-winning Texas independence- and the first president of the Republic of Texas. Brandon's been learning about Texas history at school so he was excited by the prospect of seeing the statue up close, especially when he found out he had been there once (on a previous family campout to Huntsville State Park) and didn't remember it.
