Normally, Brandon opens all his presents first, then Jacob the Rick and then me. This year, Brandon decided that someone else should get the chance to go first, so he picked Jacob. Last Christmas was the first time that Jacob was willing to open presents without having to be forced to stay in the same room, and this year's birthday he opened all the presents on his own without prompts, so we figured he would do pretty good this year. He did, but since he's not been allowed to sit in our laps, he figured he would take this opportunity for a little lap dwelling. He opened presents like any other typical 8 year old--rip the paper off, glance at the present, stack it into a pile and start ripping open the next one. And then he wanted to take everything out of the boxes immediately after the last present was opened. He's pretty happy with his Leapster (it's like an educational gameboy), a purple stuffed elephant that is a massager, musical songbook, bathfoam, and sesame street computer game. He had other little presents that will get played with, and it was pretty funny that when he opened his new portable dvd player, he didn't even give it a second glance because he didn't realize what it was! So that got set aside until we leave on Thursday.
