Let's see...we were all very sunburned from that fun trip to the beach. Rick and I were probably the worst, and when Brandon saw Rick's peeling back, he said, "Cool. You're a lizard. Can I keep you?"

Three out of four Staigles give IRONMAN two thumbs up. The fourth Staigle doesn't care about anything that doesn't involve the Wiggles, Barney, Thomas, Bob the Builder, or the Teletubbies. Rick and Brandon also give the new Indiana Jones movie two thumbs up. According to Brandon, since I've only seen number three and haven't made an effort to see the first two, I don't qualify to see the movie and render a verdict.

Two days after we went to the beach we noticed that Jacob's right ear was really red, but we weren't concerned, because, you know, sunburn. Then he came home from school the next day and his entire ear was swollen up three times it's normal size and had a large, gross, sore on the main ridge. Later that night when I went in to try and clean it while he was sleeping, the pressure of the blood inside the sore was too much and it well, burst. Nice and gross style. Trying to clean it up the next morning before school was an adventure, and they sent him home because it started oozing blood again, so a trip to the pediatrician for the child who hates to have his ears checked. It took four of us to hold him down so she could clean it out and look at it. Best we can tell, he got bit by something. So, I got to spend a couple days convincing him to let me clean out his ear and put special ointment on it so it wouldn't go staph infection on us. Once all the blood drained out, he was much more cooperative and within a day it was back to normal looking.

Brandon came home on Friday singing, literally, Kool and the Gang's Celebration. Apparently they don't have individual TAKS scores, but they do know that the entire 4th grade at his school passed the writing TAKS test, so therefore Brandon passed. Phew. Now maybe my anxiety level will go down a little.

Jacob is back in his telephone stage again. As in, as soon as he sees a telephone, he starts reciting "ok, ok, see you soon, bye!" followed by manic giggling. This (minus the giggling) is what he hears on my end when Rick calls to say he's on his way home from work. Apparently the are finding this very humorous at school and have given him his own play phone so they can attempt play acting. So we're back to hiding the real phones at home, otherwise he'll bodycheck you to answer them first.

Mother's Day was nice and quiet. Since we were all sunburned, we took a couple quick pictures and then vegged the rest of the day. Rick made breakfast and I've been enjoying my new toaster/convection oven for a couple weeks now.

The boys only have a week and a half of school left and Brandon is excited. Mom is terrified, although Jacob only has a week off before his Extended School year classes start.
