Going, Going, Gone

Well, the garage finally came down. We've known for awhile that it was going to need to be replaced; it's one of the reason's we did the kitchen ourselves (because who wants two home repair loans at the same time?) One of the corners has settled enough that whenever we get a heavy rain the garage gets 2-3" of water in it. So we spent the better part of a year designing it, waiting for a decision from a third party, redesigning it, getting bids, getting a loan. Last weekend Rick busted hump getting the garage cleaned out and everything moved to a storage shed, figuring that it would at least give us a little breathing room it terms of scheduling. Except he called me on Monday--they had the demolition permit already and wanted to start the next day. So there we are 10pm on Monday night finishing up after they boys were in bed just so it would be ready to be torn down the next day. So one day of taking it down, just a little over one day of ripping out the concrete, and now Jacob has a great big sand area to wiggle his toes in, but no garage to go hide behind. When it's all done, we'll have a new garage, complete with foundation pillars, with a workshop on the back, new driveway and a new patio out the back door.
