doesn't actually smell that good. Rick finally broke down and replaced the Jeep with a 2007 Dodge Charger. Now, Rick got many traits from his dad, but patience for car shopping is not one of them. Bill could happily go trooping through a car lot every weekend. Rick, on the other hand, avoids it like the plague. He's known that he would be replacing the jeep this fall since last fall, but he hates car shopping in any way shape or form. In true engineer fashion, he avoided it. Used business trips to test drive cars. Waffled with the should get and want to get. A push from me finally got him to settle on the want to get--a red Dodge Charger SE. But the decision made meant he actually had to do something about it. In Rick's case, it was to start a spreadsheet to track prices/sales/dealerships for 3 months. And finally on Friday he calls me, and says, I made an offer. And was he happy about it? No. It was more tinged with, dammit, I just want to get this over with. He finally did it, though, and came home with a contract. No car, just a contract while they scotchguarded and tinted windows. And then he spent the rest of night tossing and turning and wondering if he made a good enough deal and wrestled with buyer's remorse. We finally went and picked up the car on Saturday and even he admits he's feeling a little better about it. Especially once he got out on the freeway ("Mom! Dad just left us behind! Go catch him!"). And now that it's in the driveway, he's even smiling about it. Mostly because he's planning what kind of stereo to put in it. Fire up the computer boys, I feel another spreadsheet coming on.
