While perusing the clearance aisle at Walmart I somehow decided that we needed to make homemade ice cream. Brandon loves those kind of activities, so I figured for $15, why not? In truth, making homemade ice cream is easy, it just takes longer that you think it would. Mix ingredients together and stir on stovetop, refrigerate for 2 hours, then do the ice cream maker. We decided to the homemade vanilla recipe as our trial run. At the end of the mixing it was still more like ice cream soup since you have to freeze it for another couple hours, but we all had a little bowl of our creamy soup. It kind of tasted like cold tapioca. Not bad, just not the vanilla you expect. Brandon is already making plans for our first batch of chocolate ice cream.
